A Tutorial: A Sustainable Mill Valley Takes Shape
Support Organic Food
- Choosing organic food is better for the environment (no pesticides or genetically modified products) and the health and financial well being of farm workers. This includes hormone and chemical-free meat and fish.
- Genetically modified food upsets the balance of the gene pool and the natural ecology of the world. Set limits on GM food and products so the wild strains of food and plants remain uncontaminated with manipulated genes.
- Eat less meat. More than half of the U.S. water supply goes to livestock production. Eat fish that is not endangered.
- Demand accurate labeling of food and products so we can choose what we buy and eat.
- Buy more foods in bulk. Packaging waste makes up fully 1/3 of our municipal waste stream.
- Support local farmers and Farmers Markets.
- See the Center for Food Safety.
